The Omaha Linux User Group (OLUG) meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 1902 Howard Street. Meetings begin at 6:30 PM and generally consist of a Q&A session, latest news and events session and a presentation. Membership is free (no dues!) and everyone is welcome. Joining OLUG is very simple, show up at a meeting or sign up for the mailing list. If you would like to contact OLUG, please click here.
If you have a linux related topic you wish to present on, please consult the OLUG Schedule. Contact me off list with your name, topic and month you wish to present.

The Omaha Linux User Group presents the Linux Installfest 2025!
Did you know that support for Windows 10 is going away? If your computer was made in 2010 or later, the hardware is not obsolete! You can install linux and get many more years of use. (Did you know Linux is under the hood of Android and Samsung smart phones?)
Join us on Saturday, August 16th 2025 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the AIM Brain Exchange located at 1902 Howard Street.
Linux hobbyists and professionals will be available to help you install linux on your computer or laptop. We can help you breath new life into your current or legacy hardware.
We will post more information about the event coming soon, including an RSVP form, a downloadable flyer, and some information on what to gather before you begin your Linux journey.
We’ll have a physical meeting the month, but due to some family activities, I’ll be presenting from home.
I’ve started to use Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) to backup some of the more critical VMs in my fleet. I’ll run through install, and basic configuration.
After meeting, the group usually heads to a place that serves food and beverage. The place will be selected after the meeting.
Happy New Year. We’re starting our 2025 meetings this week. The meeting will be both in person and streaming.
Some of us gather for SIG beer just up the street after the meeting at “The Verdict”
We hope to see you there!
We’ll be meeting virtually this month as the Brain Exchange internet is down.
Earlier this year, an open source software tester found some suspicious behavior in a common Linux utility. He stopped a attack that could have had terrible consequences.
You’ll have to make your own tacos this month. Hopefully we’ll meet again next month.
Dave
