[OLUG] mouse wheel

How would I get my mouse wheel working? adding 
ZAxisMapping 4 5 to XF86Config didn't work with KDE like it did with
Gnome. I tried imwheel, but it moves down /way/ too quickly. Is there a
way to make it move in slower increments? Or is there a better way of
getting it to work?
