Is there any network gurus on this list that would be kind
enough to take a look at my problem? I have a pretty simple network
consisting of:
1) (Server) dual pII 233 with Slackware 4.0 Kernel 2.2.13 and DFE-530TX
PCI NIC Card
2) (Client) Toshiba Laptop Pentium 233 w/Win95 and 3COM PCMCIA NIC Card
3) (Client) Toshiba Laptop Pentium 166 w/Win95 and 3COM PCMCIA NIC Card
These are all connected with a 24 port D-Link hub. My question
is how to I fix or stop collisions. Here is the output from an
"ifconfig eth0"
myhome:/home/bweber# ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:00:00:00:00
inet addr:192.168.2.1 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:161816 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:360283 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:48602 txqueuelen:100
Interrupt:19 Base address:0xe480
Is there something that I can do with my network configuration
that would stop collisions? My assumption is that collisions impede on
network performance? Any ideas or previous experiences would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
