2.4.* is not 2.4.*?? OK I'm kidding. I see your point. The main thing
I keep in mind about MickeySoft is not how they do things so much
as what they have. Windows 3.1, 95, 98, NT, 2000 and the fact they
charge big bucks for those things. Big bucks for stuff not anymore
advanced than what Apple came up with in 1984 and that was really
shit they were doing in a lab at Xerox in the 70's.
It would be interesting to hear Linus's take.
Maybe he's doing this tongue in cheek. We are in post M$
days, so let's have fun. Linux is growing at least as fast as anything
Mickey Gates ever gave, er, sold us. Linux is Linux no matter what
number we put on it, even if 2.4.* is not 2.4.*.

Netfilter does rock. Linux rocks.
Question time for those who have played with
the newer kernels:
I'd like to know why my system on boot up gets
a kernel panic when I plug my hdd into the UDMA
slot on bootup, but it's OK when I use the slower
33 MHz ide slot. Log wizards (Phil), is there a
log I can look at to see what's going on? Can I
somehow capture the events to see if there is
something I can change for the better. O'Reilly
is coming out with a book on Understanding the
Linux Kernel
http://www.ora.com/catalog/linuxkernel/
Looks like it could be a good one, weighing in
at @ 650 pages. 650 pages of an O'Reilly book
usu. equals 20,000 pages from Sam's or Que.
