This group actually prefers RedHat and it's derivatives (like Mandrake).
There's only a very small number of us who use Debian - me and one or
two others.

That's exactly why people around here like it :)  Currently the OLUG
crowd is faily heavily into "newbie" type stuff.

And to answer barlow's question:  RedHat 7.1 *does* contain the driver
you're looking for on the install media as well as built into the kernel
installed by the installer.

As to why it doesn't work I have no idea.  Why don't you bring it to the
meeting tomorrow and have some others look at it?
