forgive the obvious, but have you tried different slots for the NICs? Some
BIOSs are fussy about where cards are located on the PCI bus. Don't recall
why, just that when I run in to similar situations my next step (after
verifying the cards in another machine/os) is to try different slots.
also, have you checked the manf. sites for updated drivers? (low
probability, but worth the effort if you have access)
