[olug] Clustered Proxy Servers

Alright, I have a question. Heres a hypothetical situation:

Take a small server running Deadrat Linux 7.1, acting as a proxy server.
However, this proxy server is rather overloaded. Its not a hardware
issue... its a very large network.

My question: is it possible to cluster a couple of servers together as a
proxy? If so, does anyone know where I could learn how to do it?
