[olug] cdrom

The exact error I get from mount is that /dev/hdc isn't a valid block
device. When I page through dmesg's output, I see that the kernel says it
doesn't have a driver. The drive works fine in Windows, so I didn't do
something stupid. Also, I have another cd drive, a cd-r, on the same ide bus
at /dev/hdd and it works fine. So it's not a controller issue. I'm really
stumped here; what drivers do you load for an IDE atapi cdrom?

Tell us more. What is the exact error you get from "mount"? Did you
change anything at all about your software? Is it a SCSI or an IDE
CDROM drive? What color is the faceplate? :-)
When installing/configuring PC hardware, I will typically do something
oafish, such as plugging a cable in backwards or improperly setting the
SCSI id or IDE master/slave jumpers. Check those common mistakes. If
it is an IDE CDROM drive: did you plug the devices in to the same IDE
headers as before? (That is, primary and secondary, master and slave.)
