The 6.2 Pro package contains a full perl archive, server applications full
and demo, the secure apache server, more support, IBM DB2 Developer's
Edition Full CD. I run Redhat 6.2 at work.
I purchased the Deluxe box for home use.
With Redhat 7 you get the newer 2.2.x kernel, the updated applications, the
secure server is provided, ssh included, among many other packages that were
not in 6.2.
If you have access to a burner and you are going to run on a newer system, I
would recommend Redhat 7.2 over Redhat 7 Deluxe. It is available at CompUSA
for less and includes the 2.4.x kernel and the newest applications over the
other two.
I burn my own CD's and have 7.2 running for use at home and at work.
I also am using 7.1 at work as my mail server.
Do you plan on setting up Redhat at home to learn?
Do you plan to take a course that requires home study of UNIX or Linux?
I teach UNIX using Redhat at IWCC.

The bookstore at Metro's South campus has two copies of Red hat - one 6.2
Pro (at $180) and a deluxe workstation 7 (at $80). Other than the
recommendation of using the latest version for your initial install of
Linux, what are the important differences between the two packages? What
does the Professional *really* have over the deluxe workstation? Also, are
these prices out of league or inline?
[Yes, I know I could try to figure this out by looking at the packaging - I
want the real truth though.]
