[olug] rpm -bb option

Daryl,

Using the rpm -bb option assumes that you have already installed the rpm
package using rpm -ivh. In the case of using Red Hat, after you have
installed the src rpm, cd to /usr/src/redhat, then run rpm -bb
SPECS/whatever.spec

Or, to save a few steps do this:

rpm --rebuild program.1.1.1.src.rpm

This will install, build, and write out the new rpm(s) to
/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/archtype

where archtype can be athlon, i386, etc.

(note - you may have more than one binary rpm file when finished)

Hope that helps....
Jon L.

The instructions say to use rpm -bb to build a binary of the rpm, but I get an error message that says "This does not appear to be an specfile". Inside the rpm are two files. One is the spec file, while the other is a .gz file.
