I will have to do some testing and see, but tar is said to not back up the
/dev directory for one.
Cpio backs up everything.
LoneTar is Tar, but supports built-in compression if needed and also allows
for verifies at the bit level and is modified to work like cpio as far as
backing up critical /dev files and such.
