[olug] X problem

I believe binfmt-0000 would imply the kernel is trying to load a module to
understand a different format for a binary executable, because it thinks you
are running something in a format it doesn't understand.
Probably either a corrupted binary file somewhere in the X stuff, or else a
kernel compiled with some bad options would be my guess. The quick fix
might be to figure out which has been tinkered with more recently on that
system, X or the kernel, and reload those packages.

Subject: [olug] X problem
I have a friend who is running Redhat 7.1. Recently he has not been able to
startx. When he tries to startx the server crashes and leaves the following
message in the system log: modprobe: Can't locate module binfmt-0000
This file does not exist on his system and I cannot find where it is
referenced in the X config. If someone could point me in the right directio
I would appreciate it. Thanks.
John
