Unless someone has a better idea, that's exactly what I'd like to see.
I've been working with computers for decades, and I know all about learning
to use new software, but I don't see the point in having to spend a day or
even an hour learning how to INSTALL the software if it's just a desktop
app. I'll spend a week learning to install a server OS or a vital update
to an Enterprise server, but installing a money manager, or something along
those lines shouldn't be difficult.
Until Linux can make installation of new software reasonably painless for
ANY user, it's not going to threaten any other OS for the home desktop,
except for geeks.
