I have just a couple lines of advice, that have been good for me to remember by heart.
#ipconfig -a //check out your devices
#ipfconfig eth0 up //bring up an interface
#ipconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask 255.255.0.0 // where the xxx's is your ip in windows
#route add default gw yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy // where the yyy's is your gateway
#vi /etc/resolv.conf // edit your name servers here, thats it
this is usu all you need to do on most linux boxes to get networking up and running. I don't run redhat, but a fried just told me you should 'select dhcp and clear out all of the other ip/gw information in netcfg. then deactivate and reactivate the interface connected to the modem.' and you should be workn good.
good luck.
ps - its not 'Linux 7.2' there is now linux kernel version 7.2... its "Red Hat 7.2"
futher questions? bring them to the OLUG Install FEST Jan 5th! noon - 6pm! :)
