[olug] New COX managed network bad for Linux

For what it's worth, I spoke to someone inArizona recently who is on the new Cox network. He only gets a private (10.)
address. You can get a real address. but it costs more. I'm not sure how much more though. On the upside, he said it
dosen't look like there's any bandwidth cap.

Whether you know it or not, Cox has already assigned each of us a private address.
For educational purposes, you can look your 10. ip, along with some other cool info here:

http://tool.coxomaha.net
username: tech
password: oma4a!tech

You can look up your info by your modem's MAC address or your internal IP address.
Check it quick, they'll probably change the password as soon as they see extra traffic!
Since it now costs extra to get an additional external address, will they reduce rates since we will no longer have one
and the service is less valuable? That's not likely!

"Enjoy the Cox Advantage!"
