Two things:
* The ring thing occurs often enough that there has to be some explanation,
regardless of the fact that you can generalize too much on this. That's why
it's joked about and thought about, not because anyone truly believes
there's some animal magnetism associated with wearing a wedding ring.
* Generally, the real reason is simple. Most of the time this occurs, the
woman is waiting on you in some capacity and is smart enough to know the
flirting will result in bigger tips. Think about it guys.
