honestly, squid is the best caching packages I have seen, however, it can be
a beast.... not only resource wise, but configuration as well. If all you
are looking to do if cache web traffic, I suggest you take a look at the
internal proxy/cache that apache has. It is relatively easy to setup, and a
whole lot easier to manage than squid, but... on the flip side, once squid
is setup_properly_ ( emphasis there, yes )... there is basically no
maintenance other than log rotation.
