Just an FYI...
It looks like tcpdump will let me see if things are getting to my
machine.
tcpdump -n port 3128
tcpdump -n port 80

ip -s -s li li dev eth0  will show Rx/Tx for interface eth0 after that
you
will need to set up either realms or use iptables/ipchains rules to
count
packets...
