You know, I think that this is the first time on this list I have heard
people piss and moan about something so trivial.  If you don't like what
the list is doing, sign off.  Is that clear enough?  Looking at the vote
totals, losing 10 people who don't want to delete/filter a message that
has sparked good and interesting replies with good information on why to
use or not to use a tip does not seem like much of a loss.  You are
making a big deal out of something that shouldn't be.  Setup the filter
to delete the tips and move on, or just move on!  Can we please get back
the Linux Listserv vs the whine and moan about the occasional email?  

If you want to let the flame war begin, then do but this is old!!

I do know how to filter mail, and I also know how to report spams to
the
ISP that relayed them to me.  If you are asking me to deal with these
in
the typical spam fashion, then you are asking me to forward each one
to
olug's ISP every day.  (Automated of course because as I said, I know
how to filter mail.)

This is a moral position, don't sign me up for mailing lists that I
did
not give you permission to sign me up for.  That the tips are annoying
is really a side issue.
