I think sometimes we work too hard just because we can. At least I think it's easier to let a GUI build the firewall rules that you want. That's what I did anyway.

Check it out. The tutorials help but it makes visualizing it a lot easier. It can compile the policies to IPTables, IPChains and more. You can still inspect the generated commands before using it if you care to.
