[olug] using Gimp with PICT

Hello...any Gimp gurus lurking?

My migration to Linux is from the MacOS.  Thus most of my old screenshots and many other images are in the PICT format.  I haven't been successful getting Gimp to read these files.  Is there a plugin for this format, or some kind of converter available?  I've found picttoppm but I'm not sure that Gimp reads ppm either.
