More specifically, a PS SIMM / DIMM.  They can be easily removed (hence 
the generally) and placed into other HP printers that do not have PS 
ability.  My old boss was always buying used "M" series HP printers off 
ebay and he got screwed a few times (and ripped off, too!)  Always 
print a test / configuration page and make sure the PS option is 
installed before buying!
