We write very large and very complex applications to
be used by our customers who do business on a nation
wide level.

Our software manipulates images through a work-flow
process, and it is written in Java/J2EE.  Our
environment includes CVS, MySQL, Eclipse, Linux
(RedHat AS and Fedora), Nagios, SendMail, LDAP, Tom
Cat, and many other Open Source applications.

Our environment also includes Oracle, WebLogic, and
Mac OS X.  Except for a couple of kooky vendor
requirements (Cisco Call Mangler for instance),
Windows is limited to some user laptops and desktops. 
Until work provided me with a Mac, I used Debian on my
desktop box.

To say Linux is not ready for the enterprise is not an
accurate satement.  That is like saying SCO or AIX is
not ready for the enterprise.  If Linux is not ready
for the enterprise, then how is EMIC able to stay in
business (http://www.emicnetworks.com/). If Linux is
not ready for the enterprise, why then does IBM
support Linux on their mainframes?

If you form your opinion based on what you read in
articles published by non-objective publishers, you
will see that Linux is not now and never will be ready
for the enterprise.  What you have to do is perform
your on research with your own environment.  The
reality is that the Enterprise is not ready for Linux.
