It doesn't have an onboard mpeg encoder, only the wintv-pvr-250/350s
do. (As far as wintv goes) Mythtv has a feature that will transcode the
video in the background after you capture though. So you could use the
lowest cpu encoding myth has to offer, then transcode to mpeg2/4
afterwards in the background (niced of course). As long as you're not
recording 24/7 your pc should eventually get everything down to a
reasonable size, you'll need more space until things get converted
though.
Nice and cheap though...
