To repair the partition manually, boot into your knoppix cd.
open a shell, and run the fsck program on the partitions you are having
problems with.
(unmount the paritition first)
umount /dev/hda6
(then check it)
fsck /dev/hda6
You may be prompted to fix areas of the disk.

This simply lists the partitions on the drive, as such:
#> fdisk -l /dev/hda
