Mail is scanned as it ENTERS the school district but if someone brings
in a CD from home or wherever that is infected intra-district mail is
NOT scanned. These people operate on the fringe of the district, part
of the district by location but not by job (hence the reason that they
are my side job). They login through the GroupWise client software on
the Mac, Java based.
As a district, we have a license for Virex but have been only
adaquadequatelyrilled with it. I was just looking to the OS X users to
see what, if any, you are using. I am looking at this to protect them
but also to see what alternatives exist when we goto relicensing late
this Summer. I personally don't like McAfee but I must admit that they
have gotten ALOT better on the client side with their current revision.
Anyhow, thanx to all who replied. I will checkout this one and see what
my top 3 are to test and then get them priced. 8)
PS. Sorry about the Intego misspelling. Dang alergies are nallergiesng
me sleep and I am dead on my feet this week...

Have you tried scanning the mail as it comes into the mail server?
Is that even an option for your environment?
It looks like you're running Novell GroupWise so it would be prudent to
look for AV solutions for that in addition to desktop AV - defense in
depth and all that.
You haven't mentioned how your users retrieve their mail, but if they
use POP3 one of these may be options:

I've never heard of Inteq VirusBarrier (strangely google isn't any help
... oh, wait that's *Intego* VirusBarrier), but I hear Sophos is
generally well regarded. I would stay away from Symantec and McAfee. I
have no experience with CA's offering... but based on my experience with
ARCServe... ugh.
In case you can't tell I've never used VirusBarrier :)
A company called Authentium (http://www.authentium.com/) makes a managed
AV solution called "Command AV" that will work with Windows, Linux, OS
X, *BSD, etc. It may be another option to look into.
