[olug] New to md5sum

Your first CD is missing about half of the data.

Here are my results and all md5sum checks passed.

To run md5sum you run it against each file or against the md5sum file.

Command to run

md5sum SUSE*CD1.iso  or md5sum SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD1.iso

Results

5842cee531462cabd495b1b9939965d4 *SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD1.iso

Or

md5sum -c suse_9.3.md5sum

Results

SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD1.iso: OK
SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD2.iso: OK
SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD3.iso: OK
SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD4.iso: OK
SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD5.iso: OK

There are also GUI programs to check the md5sum of a file.
One is Hasher at www.karenware.com with source.
It does require the VB 6 Runtime to be installed which is available as a
download from here site with each application also.

I'm trying to check the SUSE 9.3 iso's that I've
downloaded.

I went to the 

http://theopencd.sunsite.dk/md5.php

website to see how to work with the md5sum program.

I get that the downloads failed.  I'm not sure I did
things correct though.

Here is exactly what I did:

1.) Downloaded the files to a directory on the D:
drive of a Windoze XP machine (faster pipe and more
free space).

2.)  Downloaded the md5sum.exe file and placed it in
the same directory as the files.

3.)  Went to START >> RUN and entered CMD to get a
command prompt.

4.)  cd D

5.)  cd "SUSE 9.3"

6.) md5sum -c SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD1.iso

even tried
6.) md5sum -c SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD1.iso.zip
6.) md5sum -c SUSE-9.3-Prof-i386-CD1.iso.zip.md5


The files sizes I have for the CDs are:
