[olug] Bad Caps = Bad Motherboard = OLUG Downtime

We've had about half a dozen or more motherboards go bad in this
building due to this very problem. We're very aware of it and keep a
conscious eye for it whenever a 'funky' problem presents itself.
Blown power supplies tend to be somewhat common as well.
Sorry to hear this happened to the OLUG machine.
I remember slashdot articles in 2003 or 2002 about this, perhaps
earlier... as well as the hardware review sites being a-buzz about it.
Sadly, some things take time to make themselves apparent.
