I just installed Mandriva 10.2 on an nForce/64 bit
system with fantastic performance. I'd be suspicous
of something overheating, or perhaps hardware damage
myself.
I'd second the idea of running memtest, also checking
the cpu's temp. lm_sensors is a good thing.
also could be a bad install CD, bad CD drive, or
problems with the hard drive if you're having problems
from the install. I've had a couple of drives that
would fail to read packages during the install; in
fact, my server has a new cd/rw drive on the way
because of this.
