It's a fairly large screen. Using a touch screen on a 17" monitor under
regular windows applications at 1024x768 is highly annoying due to how small
everything is relative to finger size. Perhaps a 'mouse pad' applet similar
to the 'keyboard' applet he used during the demonstration... that way you
don't have to point-at/cover-up what you're trying to manipulate...

Anything gesture based is gonna have some issues like that. Just a given
and not too much of a concern (as long as the app you're working on has an
'undo' kind of feature.... attempting to paste into vi while mistakingly
forgetting to move it into edit mode first... can be utterly disastrous).
