[olug] mail servers - can sendmail handle this?

Don't mean for this to devolve too much farther off topic, but since 
we're headed this way....

My 2 cents.

Monthly newsletter we send, ~35K of html and images, 3000 at a crack, 
spools up in my queue (running Postfix) for somewhere between 5-15 
minutes, load spikes, then it clears. Since it comes from an OUTSIDE 
newsletter provider AND I haven't whitelisted them, they all get the 
"amavis/clam" treatment which I'm sure is a majority of my issue.

To get to it, I'd think it be nice if your mailing could be staged. Just 
kinder to the mailserver.

AND, though I use Postfix, I really don't think sendmail would have ANY 
problem w/ the mailing....
