[olug] permission denied

I've been seeing permission denied dumping master file from my name 
server. Googling tells me perms wrong on directory.
rwxr_x___ root:named /var/named

I can chmod 770 the dir, OR, should I chown named:named the directory??

RHEL 3.0AS

Guess I could email Redhat, but I'd rather hear it from you guys. THINK 
it happened after an update to named. Just curious how other's are setup 
and thoughts on the perms and ownership. I'm sure there are security 
considerations....
