I was wrong on the console port settings:


Step 1 Configure the switch console port settings to match the management 
station or modem. These are the default settings of the console port:

  a.. 9600 baud


  b.. 8 data bits


  c.. 1 stop bit


  d.. No parity


  e.. No flow control
