[olug] SATA Drives

"Never" is one of those words that are generally thrown around by
someone with too much opinion and too little information.

SATA has it's place, just like anything else.  If it didn't then how
do you explain all the storage vendors selling entry-level drive
arrays with SATA disks?

I certainly wouldn't run it in a non-redundant configuration on a
server (RAID with a hot spare) but it works fine for storing big files
that see limited access.

I have 2 SAN's with a total of about 20 TB (that's Terrabytes) of SATA disk.
