[olug] Command line DVD creation.

I have a number of short DV clips from my home video camera I've pulled
onto my hard drive. I had hoped to use Kino to make them into a simple
DVD compilation, but it's a steeper learning curve than I had anticipated.
Since I don't have a need to do any high-end editing (fades, transitions
between scenes, voice-overs, etc) I thought that the right tools could
create the video DVD from the command line. I think I can take the raw
DV and convert to MPEG4, then place into a DVD ISO image, but I can't
find anything on how to make a simple transition title screen and
transitions (i.e. fade in to a title screen, hold for 5 seconds, fade to
the video, play video, fade to black, repeat for next segment).
Does anyone have any DV Editing for Dummys websites?
On a side note, I tried to install Cinelerra and KDEnlive, but neither
are in the repositories for Kubuntu-x64, and compiling them seems to
require the bleeding edge libraries and I don't want to make my system
unstable just for a single app.
