[olug] strange networking ...

Since I moved my primary computer (OS X.3.9) behind a wireless bridge
(WRT54G running DD-WRT) on my LAN, I've been unable to ssh to anything
else on the network. It just times out. I can ssh outside my network,
and I can ssh into my network. I can telnet and ping within my network.
Ping times are under a couple ms, but telnet is very slow to connect.
I can sometimes ssh into the Mac, but other times it times out.
Initially the web was very snappy (a major reason I moved to using a
bridge was that the wireless adapter seemed flaky and slow as dialup),
speeds over 500 kB/s not uncommon, but more and more now I am seeing
long delays before anything starts to load, much like before (though
speeds are usually still faster once the transfer begins).
I have no idea what to make of this. I don't know if this is something
weird with the Mac, with DD-WRT, with wireless bridging in general. Any
and all insights appreciated. If there are further diagnostics I can
do, let me know - I am no network specialist.
My networked printer also stopped responding, but since it's a
15-year-old LocalTalk printer connected via a LT/EN bridge, it may have
it's own issues. OTOH, it may be related. If anyone happens to know
about troubleshooting LocalTalk, I'd appreciate pointers on that, too.
I know even less about LT than I do about IP.
Thanks,
Tim
