[olug] The (anti-virus) party is over... Long live the Mac!

The real issue with Windows now isn't the virii you pick up; it's the surfing habits that lead to malware-laden systems. Most of what I've seen in the field from the average user has few or no virus infections detected, but can't be used because of whatever site(s) the user has been frequenting (hacked MySpace pages are one of the worst). Although the line is really somewhat blurry between malware/virus infections, and your average virus scanner now removes a lot of malware....
But right now, the only guarantee I've ever given a user as far as "How do I know this infection won't come back?" is to point them to Mac or Linux (prefer Linux, but at least Mac doesn't have a long history of treating security holes as public relations issues).
I ran the Harry Potter books through a spell checker; none of those spells should work.

Yeah, but on top of stupid users, Windows also has virii that require no user
interaction at all.
