BTW: Again, resending a bounced message I tried to send yesterday.

Dear lazy web:

My company unofficially has an IIS Manager position open.  That
position is being evaluated in the massive restructuring we are doing.
 It would seem that position, which historically has answered to the
VP of Production will now be within IT and answer to the newly created
Director of Technology position, manned by the formerly titled IT
Manager.  The IIS Manager position is considered lower than what it
was before, and after hiring two highly paid idiots in a row, I think
the company is rethinking what they want from that position.  One
important aspect is being able to have a reasonable working
relationship with the IT department, and some clue as to how systems
work.

The company is also very much in a cost-cutting mode.  I have minimal
management experience, and I've never worked directly with Information
Security being my primary job focus (though I do believe it is a major
part of being a competent SysAdmin).  I'm hoping the company will be
open minded to a perhaps someone with less experience on their resume
that would be cheaper to hire, and thusly me.

I had an informal meeting about the position with the Director and VP,
and I'm awaiting news of a formal interview.  In the mean time, I
don't want to sound like an idiot regarding the position.  I read up
on IT Security News, but frankly I don't profess to be an expert on
it.  I know enough about networking to troubleshoot many network
issues, but again don't profess to be an expert.  I'd like to find
some good texts/books/resources to brush up my knowledge of
networking, network security, pen testing, etc.

I'd be responsible for security on Solaris, Windows and Linux systems,
though I believe we're going to try and faze our Solaris systems and
migrate to Linux where possible.

Help would be appreciated.
