When ejabberd works, it works pretty good. But I've found that most XMPP
servers tend to be fairly unreliable in the long run. When it *doesn't*
work,
and is more than just a recompile needed, ejabberd is a pain to
troubleshoot.
As far as clients go, I'd recommend Psi and Kopete over Pidgin anyday :)
