My understanding is that, yeah, it should be deleted or transfered to the
new owner. Otherwise, you've kept access to the work without having a
license to it. I'm not sure if backups are transferable, though.
I've always been curious about something, though.
Me and my friends are broke. We pool our money and purchase a tape or CD or
DVD. Are we allowed to only have one instance of said tape, CD, or DVD 'in
use' at any given time ? Are we allowed to trade it back and forth ?
Secondly, members of the *IAA tend to be sister companies of those that
produce hardware that is able to copy said 'media' - so... do they really
have a right to complain that we collectively bought this product and are
collectively using it ?
I wish I had an audio CD laying around.
Next up -- given that most audio CD's and similar undoubtedly only have the
'do not illegally copy' notice -- how does that kind of licensing work when
you buy a CD from a pawn shop that doesn't have the booklet (which
undoubtedly contains information / license) ?
