[olug] Odd IDE drive issues

I suppose it's a possibility, although with this system the DVD drive was a burner (I've seen burners take a lot of power as well). This system was apparently the victim of a surge/lightning strike, so any number of components could have been taken out.
I ran the Harry Potter books through a spell checker; none of those spells should work.

I think I have had something like that happen before on a computer. for me
it was a weak power supply. the system could no longer spin up the drive.
but cd must take less juice
