I agree there is more going on than we realize.  I personally dislike the use of the word greed.  Basically because I see greed as doing something illegal inorder to make gains personal or corporate.  This is not the same as good ol' fastion capitalism, which is pounding the payment as hard as you can to earn as much as you can by any legal means... hate to say it, but if that means cutting pentions, that's what that means, because when you are in business it's all about the all mighty dollar.  and as long as you are not breaking the law with your reduction in pensions, etc... (think enron) then you as the employeed always have the right to go work for another company that doens't cut pensions.  If a company keeps that up to long they will lose all of their great talent and will eventually fail.  Just my two cents.

3X gain in profits last quarter over the previous quarter, on top of it they
are attempting to cut pensions, benefits, and workers and have entered a
stalemate with CWA and IBEW. for what? greed? maybe, but that seems to
simple of an answer for me.

perhaps they are lying to the shareholders?

i'm not an economist, but the problem seems more complicated than just
blaming it on demand and a weak economy, as well as just blaming the
almighty corporation. things are never as simple as we would like to
believe.

whatever the case, it's definitely more complicated than a long line for
beer, as entertaining as aric's colorful analogies are.

it's an interesting discussion.
