[olug] Single Rack Room Cooling Solution

At work we have a couple single rack computer rooms.  Right now one has a
14,000 BTU portable air conditioner and the other a 12,000 BTU portable air
conditioner that run 24/7.

 

These air conditioners seem to die after about a year of 24/7 use, we have
replaced them a couple times and they both need to be replaced again.  I
have been told you can guestimate the BTU needed as a BTU for every 3.5
watts of power used.   We are using about 10kW in each room.

 

Does anyone have any recommendations?
