[olug] Setting up a MythTV backend system - what's the current recommended way to start?

+1 for the Mythbuntu distro. I've been using it for several years
without issues. Installation has only become easier over the years.
It is pre-packaged, is very good at detecting compatible hardware, and
"just works". The problem with building PVR-like systems atop
existing OSes (e.g. MythTV, Linux MCE), is that there are so many
little configuration/build details and gotchas that it becomes an
exercise in tedium. That's why these pre-built distros are so nice.
The same team also maintains Mythdora if you prefer a Fedora-based
environment.
