[olug] Setting up a MythTV backend system - what's the current recommended way to start?

I keep my myth setup in the basement.  It's set to auto strip commercials
and then handbrake the result and store it on the network.  We just use the
web interface to schedule and manage recordings and then I use xbmc as a
front-end everywhere else.  That way the interface for watching dvr'd stuff
is the same as for watching other stuff on the network.

Over the years, I've tried a hodge-podge of video frontends and network
access has been common across them, so I standardized on that. ymmv
