The remote web workplace is giving you a .rdp file that specifies the use of the RDP Remote Gateway - a tech that tunnels RDP in a HTTPS session.

There is no such thing as a Linux RDP client that supports the RDP Gateway.

Your only hope for remote access is a traditional VPN. Opening RDP directly to the world with a port forward is as dangerous as having a SSH daemon open to the world - that server WILL be subject to password brute force attempts.
