usable tty.  It seems the console keyboard and mouse stop responding
altogether.  gpm is turned on in init level 5 and i would think that
would have to be correct.   i disabled Sun virtual box bc that was
failing, still no luck.  Now, i am reinstalling (yum groupinstall
"GNOME Desktop Environment") to see what that does.
