The first gen Nexus 7 does not have HDMI out :-(
Probably the best thing to do with it would be to look at the price of a newdisplay. (I believe the touch screen and LCD are fused), or take it apartand sell the individual pieces on ebay.

if it were me, I would replace the touch screen assembly.
