[olug] Disappointment and a question ...

Some progress on this...

Picked up a new video card for my primary system from craigslist, this 
means the nForce 630i system will inherit an HD 6570 (hdmi out, and i've 
had much better luck with ati-hdmi than i have with nvidia hdmi - well, 
i can just say that immediately the 630i hdmi out is balls).  Since I'm 
not measuring game performance or whatever... and am instead will be 
just doing basic functionality stuff, shouldn't matter on ATI vs nVidia 
drivers / performance / etc.  And the whole 'proprietary driver install 
available' thing won't factor in to my decisions.

As for now, it's time to go hunting for an OS usability chart / list / 
etc thing so that can generate possibly useful metrics.  If anyone wants 
to suggest ideas for the checklist, I'll gladly throw it in the list :).

Something that will be missing from the review will be the whole SSE2 
limitation some people with older AMD systems hit (flash comes to 
mind)... but I figure a core2duo is an adequate bench system. Got 
friends who would argue the p4 is still applicable but fuck them :D.
