[olug] Linux Certs?

Google paid for us to get LPI 1-3 while i was there. A couple guys did both
the LPI and RHCE and they preferred LPI from what i recall. These certs
run into a lot of issues, mostly around the fact that anybody can pass
these certs with a brief study of brain dumps; even though the agreement
with LPI says they can revoke your certs; its hard to prove or disprove.

They are nice to have I guess but i honestly don't know that they bring any
real value as an SRE/Systems Engineer.

TLPI and Understanding the linux kerenel have been significantly more
informative.

They're decent things to have for resume padding if you don't have a lot of
proven experience and need to land initial interviews. Read a couple books
instead and they'll be 100x better off.
